In keeping with our series of posts to gather introductory information about the performance experiences, we offer the list of the Fall 2012 semester performances of the Lehigh University Music Department. The links added provide a precursory look at composers, titles and guest performers, as well as websites for our faculty colleagues. As each concert nears, we will post reminders of the performances. We hope this information entices you to reserve time in your calendars for these concerts, or to consider course connections, or research intersections.

NY Jazz Repertory Orchestra A Tribute to the Big Bands

Comprised of NYC-based jazz and studio musicians, the orchestra is dedicated to the recreation of classics, as well as the creation of new jazz, funk and Latin music.

LU Jazz Fusion Hollywood Jazz

LU Choral Arts The Jewel at the Center of the World

Lehigh Choral Arts explores the unique confluence of Arabic, Christian and Jewish cultures in 9th through15th-century Andalusia. Guest artists include the Arabic takht ensemble Al-Bustan and composer-in-residence Emmy-nominated Kareem Roustom. Steven Sametz, director.

LU Philharmonic Old World England & Russia

LU Wind Ensemble 60!

A 60th-birthday celebration of the wind ensemble idea, created in 1952 by Frederick Fennell at the Eastman School of MusicDavid Diggs, director. Eugene Albulescu conducts.

LU Philharmonic Worlds of Wonder

Repertoire: Leopold Mozart, Toy Symphony; Prokofiev, Peter and the Wolf; Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker Suite. Eugene Albulescu conducts this multimedia holiday concert.
