To incoming students – consider the ArtsAlive experience

Special post for incoming students (first years and transfers)

Are you getting excited about moving to campus? Perhaps you may be having a few thoughts about living in the residence halls, finding your way around campus, or knowing a little bit more about the community just beyond the campus. Lehigh University’s Office of First Year Experience is working diligently this summer to organize a wonderful Orientation program for your arrival on August 23rd. (Oh my, there’s only 58 more days until Move in Day! – as of this post on June 27th)

If you haven’t registered for any of the preLUsion programs, consider the fantastic ArtsAlive experience.

ArtsAlive gives students the opportunities to discover and experience the exciting world of the visual, performing, literary, and design arts at Lehigh University as well as in the surrounding community. Students will get hands-on experiences in all aspects of the arts as they engage in various workshops and network with upperclassmen. The 2012 schedule includes:

  • a trip to the Martin Guitar in Nazareth, PA
  • a hot-glass workshop
  • music, theatre, and dance workshops and much more!

ArtsAlive is not just for arts majors but for any students with an interest in the arts. This program helps you connect your creative interests. Students who have participated in the past years have majored in Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Journalism, Sociology and Social Psychology.

Students who have participated in ArtsAlive said:

  • “I now know different resources on campus and other areas of art that I want to explore more: especially glass.”
  • “I already am pretty imaginative in learning, but some of the activities definitely taught me things”
  • “Opened my mind to possibilites”
  • “Sometimes my mind works slowly but I feel like the improv and the drumming helped me focus on be more spontaneous.”
  • “Let me be more creative than I usually was at my old school.”
  • “It opened me up to what was available for a creative outlet in and around Lehigh”

  1. I met some of my best friends at Lehigh through Arts Alive. It is a great way to come to campus early and meet some great people in a smaller program, and when everyone else is moving into their rooms on move in day you can chill with your new friends. And extra great plus, everyone will be jealous of your glass work.
