New Vox Gallery in South Bethlehem is launching street art project this summer, “Streetfluence”. Community support ($$) will help six artists turn neighborhood buildings into temporary street art murals and installations. The neighborhood in which the gallery is located is part of a historic district and is in need of re-development – 5 Points.
Check out this link to the City of Bethlehem 5 Points Gateway Area Enhancement Study (c. 2004) In this report, “5 points has been identified as a high priority area for revitalization.”
New Vox Gallery hopes to bring more attention to the needs and potential of the neighborhood through this project, as well as, giving a platform for some amazing local and regional artists. New Vox will hold an open reception with work from these six artists exhibited in the gallery plus an outdoor event with music and other activities on July 28th.
New Vox Gallery has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds from community supporters. Contributions will go to supplies and other things needed to make this a successful project. They will need paint, yarn, ply-wood, permits, ladders/scaffolding, promotional materials, insurance, etc. There are 12 days left to raise $2,000. As of this post, only $320 has been raised. Please support the project, if you have the means to do so.
