ArtsLehigh Social Media Efforts

ArtsLehigh believes in the power of social media. We have been active on Twitter and Facebook in ways that are harder to measure than numbers of followers. While the current list of Facebook friends is over 1,000 (as of now 1,042)and our Twitter follower count is at 470, we see our successes in more than numbers.

Some behind the tweets stories:

After I posted a blog detailing Kevin Spacey’s speech at the 24th annual Nancy Hanks lecture in Washington, DC, it looked like an earthquake hit the reader stats. The blog hit a 700% increase of readers, which netted a few of the continuing followers to the Twitter feed.

The blog has initiated some healthy local conversations about open mics. The responses have revealed much support for multiple venues in South Bethlehem.

We were able to connect with a few Lehigh grads (Whitney Chen and Sarah Meade) about their work in the creative industries. Writing about their work has been great for recognizing their commitment to their chosen path.

Some of our summer student bloggers have used their posts on the ArtsLehigh blog to get real jobs! After landing a job, Kristen Dalton wrote:

I’m glad to have been of purpose for ArtsLehigh, it certainly aided in me landing the Red Bank job. And the experience of being out and about, talking to and meeting new people was great.

From an amazing support system, the ArtsLehigh Blog won the first ever Morning Call: Best of the Blogs  title in the “arts” category. The blog also got some ink in the September issue of Lehigh Valley Style Magazine, thanks to local blogger and LVStyle contributor, Megan Beste (creator of the Lehigh Valley Transplant blog)

You never know how far a little love can go. Thanks to every reader, tweeter and sharer.

Let’s see where this effort takes us this year!
