Bethlehem Parks and Rec Survey

Did you know that the City of Bethlehem has more than 52 parks and recreational amenities for all citizens to enjoy? If you’re interesting in seeing what and where, here’s a link to a map with all locations plotted and described. If you want to know all about their programs, the office produces a quarterly newsletter of activities. Here is the Summer 2011 newsletter, still full of activities to take advantage of in the last month of summer. You can find out more about their programs by poking around their website. The Parks and Recreation department is served by some really great people. From championing new playground equipment at Higbee park last summer, to the tireless efforts of building the first phase of the SkatePlaza, that’s only two of hundreds of activities led by Parks and Recreation director, Ralph Carp. The rest of the staff include Jody Reppert, Jane Persa, Bambi Coyle, Judy Stiles, and one of the hardest working programs coordinator for the Southside, Mark Atkinson.

Even while they do wonderful things, they still want to hear from us. They have put together a survey for feedback on their programs, and community vision for the future. Even in these challenging economic times, it’s a brilliant idea to keep dreaming. We hope that you can take 5-10 minutes to fill out the survey.

The citizens of Bethlehem and visitors to our fair city ought to know how lucky we are to have such dedicated people working to make our city a great lace to live.

  1. A well maintained park system with a variety of purposes for all ages and interests is one of the greatest pluses of our community, both for current residents and anyone thinking of moving here. As our school system and other public services are undermined by some people’s political agendas, it is imperative that we fight to maintain the integrity of the parks system that adds so much to our dignity and the uality of our lives.
