Getting Creative for a Good Cause

Guest Post by Sara Lorenz of First Generation

Anyone who lives in the Lehigh Valley surely recognizes the tremendous amount of potential that exists here. The residents of our community are diverse in their talents, and have fueled the incredible growth that we have witnessed in recent years. As a Lehigh Valley native that returned to the area after 7 years, it was the strong sense of community and opportunity here that drew me back. Upon my return, I vowed to contribute my own talents locally, and I joined the creative team at First Generation.

First Generation is an integrated marketing agency located in Allentown, but more than that, we are proud citizens of the Lehigh Valley. Our most recent initiative, the $1G for Good contest, challenges the Lehigh Valley community to showcase their talents in support of local charitable organizations.

If there is a local organization, foundation or club that is close to your heart, you can help them win $1,000 just by flexing your creative muscle. You or your group can submit an entry in the form of essay, video, song, or work of art at Tell us why the cause of your choice deserves a $1,000 donation from First Generation. Entries are judged solely on creativity, so make it funny, touching, wacky, or heartfelt – as long as it’s unique and creative.

School and community clubs, arts organizations, charities, and non-profits are all eligible to be nominated, but you don’t have to be a member of one of these groups to participate. As long as your entry nominates an eligible organization or group, you are encouraged to enter. If you are a member of one of these groups, why not take this opportunity to create a lasting message and raise additional awareness for your cause? Involve your volunteers, staff, and supporters!

The submission cutoff date for the contest is July 1, so hurry! Once all entries are received, the creative team at First Generation will review the entries and narrow them down to a group of finalists. The finalists entries will be posted at starting on August 1 for a month-long voting process which is open to the public, and on September 1, the entry receiving the highest number of votes will win a $1,000 donation for their nominated organization.

We’re looking forward to seeing just how creative the Lehigh Valley can be!
