I was recently sent some information about an online art magazine centered at Muhlenberg College, called “Popped.” It’s an gathering of creative work submitted by students and professors from the Lehigh Valley Colleges. The mission: “…to let all voices be heard and all boundaries be breached. Work is selected blindly based on artistic merit. Popped is a placed where all genres of writing, art and interactive media can be appreciated. More voices – no boundaries.”
If you would like to share your creative work (i.e. any sort of written work, visual art, film, music, or filmed theatre or dance) the submission guidelines are defined on the site. But to encourage your consideration, I’ve also posted them here:
Popped accepts submissions of: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, critical essays, memoirs, satire, rants, photography, painting, film, sketches, sculpture, video, performance, music, comics, graphic texts, collaborations, interactive multimedia, experimental writing, cross genre and interdisciplinary hybrids.
All work is blindly assessed by the current Magazine Writing & Editing class at Muhlenberg College. Work is coded, anonymously critiqued, and chosen in a double-blind merit based fashion.
The deadline for the 3rd issue has been extended to this Friday, November 5th. If you have work waiting to be shared, this is a great way to not only expand your audience, but to widen your awareness of other creative minds in the Lehigh Valley. Email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
