Oct 8 – 4:10 PM • Neville Hall, Room 003 • Dept. of Sociology & Anthropology Lecture: Dr. Patricia Fernandez-Kelly, “Art in the Lives of Immigrant Communities in the U.S.” Dr. Fernandez-Kelly, (from Princeton) will review art forms in immigrant communities in the U.S. focusing on continuity and discontinuity across generations and introducing the concept of “expressive entrepreneurship” to designate ways in which young people of immigrant background use art including hip-hop, break-dancing and graffiti to connect with and advance in American society.
